OUR VISION AND MISSION
Our vision and mission
Affordable Thrift Store envisions to promote the practice of sustainable use of clothes. In one of the most populated part of Nepal, Kathmandu produces huge amount of textile-based-waste: a type of waste which falls in between the bio degradable and non-degradable product, as it is mixed with cotton and polyester. So the concern to ‘reuse’, ‘reduce’, and ‘recycle’, textiles or fabrics have yet to become alarming to the authorities.
Believing that, prevention is better than cure, Affordable Thrift Store took an initial lead in the second hand market. An item of cloth which have been rendered unusable in a household is given a revised value in the thrift store. At first we were responded by the promoters of environmentally conscious customers, then we were joined by larger team to accommodate the surge of sellers-and-buyers and this eventually created a shared economy. With the un-valued product, we were able to generate revenue, contributing 0.1% in the national economy, provided employment opportunities and now we envision to enter the circular economy.
With our valued partners we are working out to up-cycle the clothes and fabrics which cannot be circulated in the market.
As another small business promoting environmental sustainability, we are collaborating with Rekriti to upcycle the surplus of Jeans. You can visit the official website of Rekriti to check how they are dedicated to their agenda. You can also donate your jeans through us to support them.
SUKHAWATI
Powered by a skillful team, Sukhawati is focused on promoting important cause of sustainability through reuse, women empowerment and relief campaigns. We are collaborating with them to use upcycled products in our services, specifically the customer bags. Soon our customers will be receiving their products in handbags made with love by sukhawati.
OUR MISSIONS AND VISIONS
ATSN’s 5-Year vision and mission is our ‘Green-ization Project’ where every tool and products we sell contribute to the cause of environmental sustainability and textile-based waste management. We would like to adopt as green and upcycled products as we can, to decrease our carbon footprint as a small business within our next years. We believe that in creation of a circular economy where we give a value to a valueless item, keeping sustainability in mind will be beneficial for all.
